Phase 1:
Set up

Phase 1.1: Picking a System

For our system, we decided to look at the EVGA website. This website is a shopping site for a computer hardware company with an "elite" membership program. EVGA also allows for community interaction through Twitch streams and forums.

It’s different from other shopping websites because it's specifically for computer hardware targeted at the specific demographic of people who enjoy building their own PCS. We selected this website because UI was hard to navigate and was very cluttered.

In this course, we were told to pick any kind of system which is considered problematic or unorganized, my group and I chose to work on and redesign a website called EVGA.

Thank you. We have completed the first part of the study. We are going to move on to the next part which is interacting with the website. You will be given a set of tasks to operate on the website, however, I will not tell you how to do it, we consider you a new user to the website and are free to do whatever you see appropriate. Do not worry if you get confused or don't know how to perform the tasks, the purpose of this study is to locate small issues and make improvements. I also want remind you that we are not testing you or judging your performance. If you have any questions before or while performing the tasks, do not hesitate to ask. Finally, I would like to ask you to think aloud while performing the tasks. Is that ok? Lets get started.

You are currently on the home page

I'd like you to sign up for an account

Next I want you to look for a gaming keyboard

Now, please act as if you were going to purchase the keyboard

Finally, please take a look around the discussion forums for information about this keyboard

Thank you for completing the tasks. I have a few more questions to ask you regarding your
experience.

Post-study questions:

In general, what is your opinion about the EVGA website?
